Tummy Time!

Eden is getting more used to hanging out on her tummy, playing with her toys.  We got her a new toy to play with, a dashboard for a car.  She likes to suck on the steering wheel...big surprise.  She will be crawling soon...she already is making the motions and can turn herself around in a circle, commando style. 

I eat food!

The day after the big snow storm, the roads were really icy, so we decided to stay home and play it safe.  There wasn't too much to do inside and it was only 20 degrees or so outside, so I decided to get the highchair out and see what Eden thought of rice cereal.  The little peanut barely fit in the highchair.

She seemed to like her new seat.

We all know just how much she likes to put things into her mouth.  It was no surprise that she knew what to do with the spoon.  The food however, didn't stay in the mouth!

Snowy Inauguration Day

We woke up at 3am to see that it had begun to snow.  It was still snowing when we got out of bed at 8:30 and it is still snowing now, at 2pm.  I think we're around 6inches right now...We HAD to get Eden out in the snow for her first time.  We bundled her up and took her outside, for about 2 minutes total...

It was a special snow day, Obama was inaugurated into office.  Eden watched Obama give his speech.  

I think she was happy to have all of us at home today, what a great first snow day!

I laugh!!!

Ever since Eden first smiled, I have been pretty obsessed with trying to get her to laugh.  I was surprised when the attempts Cam had made to make her laugh were futile.  I thought for sure, her silly Daddy would be able to make her laugh.  You can imagine my surprise when I heard those first giggles....while I was making the bed.  Eden was laying on the bed while I was changing the sheets.  I found the sweet soft bunny that Tracy had gotten her in the blankets and tossed it to her to keep her amused.  The bunny landed right near her and out burst the sweetest giggles I had ever heard.  I called Cam and of course, we tried to get her to giggle again, and again, and again.  Here is some of what we were able to catch on video.

Saturday night fun with cousins

Eden loves being around other small children, which is a good thing considering she has a total of 18 cousins, 10 of which live near us.  Saturday, Megan and Amy brought their kids over to Papa and GG's house so we could all hang out.  

Braiden came in his cowboy gear, which Uncle Cam made the most of later on in the night....we'll get to that in a bit.

GG of course, had new toys for just about all of them.  Eden was lucky to get a new jumperoo!!  It was funny to see Megan's boys put down their new toys in order to "help" put together Eden's jumper.  Ashton and Braiden stuck close by when Eden was enjoying new jumperoo.

GG, Braiden and Cameron made cookies.  Braiden, who is 2.5 years old was able to use the electric mixer without any problem.  Cameron, who just turned 5 years old, managed to get cookie dough all over everything...including Judy.

Aunt Megan loves little Eden, she took care of her all night long.

After dinner, GG brought out Braiden's pony. He got a chance to put those cowboy boots to work.  Aunt Amy mentioned how Braiden likes to watch bull riding.  Listen for him yelling, "open the gates!" and "yee-haw!" and "eight seconds!".  Too cute.  Poor kid, this for certain, will come back to haunt him one day.  

First week at daycare!

Eden started daycare January 12th at Primrose. We were a little nervous about the whole daycare thing, so we decided to ease into it by having her first day be a half day.  Cam, myself and Nana all took her in to get settled.  Her two teachers were there to greet her, Helena and Essence.  Helena took her right away and put her in the exersaucer.  As soon as Eden was in the saucer, she completely forgot about us.  She was completely enthralled with the flower on the saucer....

I couldn't even get her attention to say good-bye.  I guess that was a good thing?

The theme for the curriculum that week was water transportation. They learned about boats and the infants finger painted sailboats.  The teachers cut out the sailboats and hung them in the classroom by the window.  

4 months old!

I just can't believe it, Eden will be 4 months old tomorrow.  Where in the world has the time gone?  I guess it doesn't seem like time is passing you by quickly until you have someone in your life who grows at an incredible pace.  Eden woke us up at 5am this morning for a bottle (typical...the girl goes to bed at 7:30pm and wakes at 11pm, 2am and 5am before getting up around 7:30am...it's killing me. Thank goodness Daddy has become involved with nighttime feedings.  Yes, I am now very thankful to be finished with breastfeeding.  I don't think I could do this alone while working!).  Anyhow, I go in to feed her this morning and she is flat on her face.  She rolled over completely on her own!

She had rolled over a few other times over Christmas at mom's and here at home with us, but I kind of felt like we made it happen, that it didn't actually happen because she made it happen.  This time, I knew she did it all on her own.  What a big girl!

Not to forget to mention, this little girl is now attending Primrose School full time.  She started this Monday after finding out last week, at the last moment, that she wouldn't be able to start at Heather Park until April (another long story).  Anyhow, she loves her teachers and didn't even notice that we were there once her teacher, Helena, put her in an exer-saucer.  She has done very well, according to her teachers.  Although, I'm sure they would tell us that even if she screamed the entire time we were gone.  I think that's what we're paying them to do.

Our little girl is 1/3 a year old...I can't believe it.  

Rob came by today in a BMW 700 series, that he is considering buying.  All of us sat in it and decided it was a good buy!  Go for it, Rob!

Eden, Mommy loves you very much

I can't believe it, the time has come for me to go back to work.  Tomorrow is January 5th and I've been home since August 28th.  It doesn't seem like it has been a very long time since I brought you into this world, not in the least.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to be going back to work.  I miss learning new things every day and keeping busy doing things that will hopefully make a difference in someone's life.  However, I can't help but be a little sad that the first four months of your life has already elapsed and so quickly, at that.  I know you're not quite on your own just yet, but I can't help but think I'm leaving you to start living your life without me.  I wish I could stay home with you every day of your early years, but instead I'll be heading back to work tomorrow, with the hope that I will be setting a good example for you. I'd like to teach you how to be a responsible, accountable adult who knows how to be productive and have a satisfying career and still have a loving, happy family.  

What I really want you to know is that you're the light of my life and I love you very, very much.  I hope to always  be here for you when you need me.

Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Aunt Bernadette, Uncle Jack and cousin Drake drove 9 hours from frozen Fort Wayne, Indiana down to sunny NC to meet Eden.

Bernadette, being the ultimate pool player, taught Eden how to roll the pool balls.  I guess that's the first step to becoming a pool shark?Eden, of course, had a great time with Grandma too.Chillin' in her new Nike sweat suit that Aunt Bernadette and Drake picked out for her.
